Emu Swamp Dam 

Brent Finlay is the independent chair of the Emu Swamp Dam Detailed Business Case, now known as Granite Belt Water, which proposes the development of an irrigation project for the Granite Belt’s high value horticulture.

Key features:

  • pipelines linking the dam to the region's existing water treatment plant and, potentially, to irrigation properties

Integrated Food and Energy Developments Pty Ltd (IFED)

Proposed development of a large-scale farm and integrated agri-processing facilities.

  • 65,000 hectares of cropping land, including sugar cane and guar bean

  • 241,000 hectares of grazing land

  • bioprocessing precinct, including:

    • 4.8 million-tonne sugar mill

    • 200,000-head meat processing plant

    • 1000 hectares of red claw farming

    • extensive processing facilities

  • constructed lakes with a combined capacity of 2 million megalitres

  • overland gravity channels supplying water to pumping stations for trickle-tape irrigation

World Farmers Organisation ( WFO)

The World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) is a member-based association, bringing together national farmers’ organizations and agricultural cooperatives from all over the world.

WFO mission is to represent the farmers’ voice and advocate on their behalf in all the relevant international processes affecting their present and their future, ranging from the global dialogue on agriculture to nutrition and sustainability.

Bowen Pipeline

Guiding the process for an application to the National Water Infrastructure Development Fund to do a detailed business case feasibility for a pipeline from Burdekin Falls dam to Bowen..  

This pipeline was for the development of 20,000 hectares of high value horticulture land providing 3,500 jobs and $300 million in increased production for region.
